I returned home from a conference this weekend and drove across I-75, a highway commonly referred to as Alligator Alley. The name pretty much matches the landscape. Nothing but water and Everglades, and on either side of the roadway, a veritable army of alligators sunning themselves along the canal and river banks.
As I eyed the coldblooded, reptilian beasties, a thought occurred to me. No, it wasn't the notion that agents are like gators. We don't bite. Honestly. And we're far from 'cold.' It was the idea that aspiring authors should be able to 'driveby' and meet us, to ask questions and receive real, candid answers.
Soo . . . here it is. Agent Alley. Your one-stop spot to meet agents, industry professionals, and bestselling authors. This is the place where you can learn about what works and what doesn't, to suggest topics of conversation, and to gain the insights that might assist you on your journey to publication.
I'll feature different agents and industry professionals, offer articles on craft and business. Drive-by and check it out.
Thanks for visiting. Please feel free to post comments and questions.
Happy Writing,
Nicole Resciniti, AAR
Thanks, Nicole. That's an amusing metaphor, and it reminds me of a novelette I wrote about the Everglades. (Not that I'm pushing it, although I do hope you've had a chance to look at a submission I made a few weeks ago.)
ReplyDeleteI hope you're having a great spring!
Welcome to the wonderful world of blogging! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for this, Ms. Resciniti. It's a tricky balance, I think, as authors trying to keep things professional, but wanting to ask agent advice without seeming creepy. ;) So to have something like this will be very beneficial... We struggling authors really do seize on any advice we can get to improve our chance/journey and keep moving forward. I'll be excited for the drive-by! :D
ReplyDeleteYou have a blog! Where's the "followers" widget? I want to be the first to follow you. :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful idea. I'm sure Agent Alley will become a great resource for writers, pubbed and pre-pubbed alike. I can't wait to see what you have in store for us.
Me too! This is awesome! :-)
